Il programma nel dettaglio

In this tour to Gouda and the windmills of Kinderdijk, we will explore the landscapes of South Holland, knowing how the ancient Dutchmen used different techniques to fight against water and to get more land. In this area, there were numerous commercials ports during the golden century, where they were obtained, manufactured and distributed a multitude of products. In addition, we will discover the most famous cheese city in this country: Gouda. An amazing city born in the thirteenth century.

First of all, we will visit Kinderdijk, a windmills area Heritage of the Humanity by UNESCO, elevated above the polder landscape. We will step right into the middle of Dutch history. Learn how these structures influenced the country’s economy. Our local guide will explain to you about the great industrial revolution, how these giants helped to the development of the country and we will enter in a windmill to see how it works. Afterward, you will have free time to enjoy the park, visit other windmills or even ride a canal cruise from where you can take the most beautiful pictures of Kinderdijk.

We will continue our journey to Gouda, a city full of merchants in the 17th century attracted to cheese. We will walk its streets admiring buildings as important as the Church of Sint Jans, which was built in the 15th century and is world-famous for its stunning stained glass windows, the beautiful town hall or the public scale.

Of course, we will try the delicious local product: on the cheese market, we can taste different types and even take one back home. You will enjoy here as well some free time to explore the city on your own before coming back to Amsterdam.
