Il programma nel dettaglio

In 1628, a big salute was fired to celebrate the maiden voyage of the great Vasa warship. In 1957, the same vessel was applauded as it was salvaged from the bottom of the sea. What happened in the years in between? Salute the Vasa ship with us and hear all about its salvation on our driving tour of Stockholm and the Vasa Museum, or as we like to call, “Salute & Salvation”!

In the 1620s, the great Swedish King Gustav II Adolf felt like he didn’t have a big enough of a ship to showcase his greatness. As his enemies called him “the lion of the North”, he couldn’t go to war with a small sailboat. The pressure was on, and the Vasa ship was born. His precious ship was however too good to be true and sank on its maiden voyage.

This tour of Stockholm and the Vasa Museum doesn’t only take you on a voyage of the Swedes’ failures and success stories, it also shows you around town. Discover the city districts of the Old Town, Södermalm, Norrmalm, Djurgården and Östermalm on our scenic drive through the city. The Old Town, as the name suggests, is where everything once began, both for the city and the Vasa’s maiden voyage. It was from here the Vasa ship took off on that fateful afternoon in 1628.

We’ll go for a short walk through the Old Town to stretch our legs and uncover hidden corners of this picturesque island. What are the main highlights of the Old Town? We’ll gladly show you a selection of the Old Town’s highlights that can include: Stortorget (The Main Square), The Nobel Museum, The Royal Palace and the smallest statue in Sweden to name a few. As we end our tour, we promise your heart will salute the city of Stockholm.

Please note: The majority of this tour takes place in areas where you will have to walk on cobblestones. We suggest wearing comfortable shoes.
