The impressive Arenal Volcano is a natural wonder that is located in La Fortuna de San Carlos, Alajuela, offering thousands of tourists the opportunity to appreciate the columns of white smoke, ash and smoking activity that emanate from the conical colossus. It is important to keep in mind that the volcano had remained asleep for at least 450 years, until on July 29, 1968, it again experienced a great eruption, beginning a new period of pyroclastic activity which has been decreasing in the last years.

On the way to the Arenal Volcano, we will make a stop in the famous town of Sarchí, known as the cradle of Costa Rican artisans, where they will have the best opportunity to acquire souvenirs such as wood, clothing and souvenirs in general. In Sarchì, it is very possible that you will see an ox cart that holds the title of being the largest in the world, which is built of wood (cedar) and decorated with surprising colours, such as a bright orange colour. The design is typical and complex, it has two levels of height and took 70 days to complete, it also has an honourable mention in the world book of Guinness Records.

The trip continues crossing forest areas, as well as plantations of various agricultural products, including coffee plantations, pineapple, ornamental plants, cattle farms, until reaching the beautiful town of La Fortuna, to stop and enjoy lunch in a Cozy restaurant with a spectacular view of the Arenal Volcano. After lunch, you visit a viewpoint that is closest to the base of the volcano where you can see the view of Lake Arenal.

Eventually, the tourist will enjoy and relax in one of the best hot springs in the area, where you can enjoy the rejuvenating effects of them, as well as a massage (optional activity) or other special treatments that must be booked in advance. Baldi facilities offer the tourist, 25 thermal water pools, which flow naturally from the volcano. The medicinal waters are certified by L.N.A (National Water Laboratory), and the temperature ranges from 33 to 66 degrees Celsius (93-152 Fahrenheit) providing customers with a wide range of options that suit the person's tastes.

And for a perfect ending, before returning to San José, a delicious dinner is served with a great view of the volcano so you don't miss any opportunity to appreciate it once again.
