From the Old Town, cross over the Erasmus Bridge to discover the modern area on the banks of the Maas River.
At the first stop you will have the chance to see the statue of Verwoeste Stad (The Destroyed City), designed by Ossip Zadkine, a French sculptor born in Russia. The monument was presented to the city of Rotterdam in 1953 to symbolise and memorialise the destruction that the city suffered during World War II, the Rotterdam Blitz.
Feel dizzy as you pass through the Cube Houses, a mind boggling project amongst the most amazing buildings of modern Rotterdam before heading on to see the "Witte Huis" a beautiful piece of architecture, and one of the few buildings that survived the bombing of World War II.
Take a small rest and admire the scenery of the city on the riverbank whilst also admiring the city from a different perspective. From the banks, you can get a great view of the New York Hotel, where the former headquarters of the Holland America Line was originally located.
Before leaving Rotterdam, you literally cannot miss exploring The Euromast, a 185 metre tower which even has a restaurant that boasts to have the best views of the city. From this giant mast you really do get a chance to take some stunning photos of Rotterdam from above!
After that highpoint, you will travel to The Hague, which is the administrative centre of the country, where the Parliament is located, a set of buildings that is known by the name of "Binnenhof". With its large avenues, majestic buildings, palaces and large areas of green areas, it gives a feeling of splendour to the city.
Visit the "Palais Noordeinde", the King's work centre, the prestigious Mauritshuis museum; home to the Best of Dutch paintings from the Golden Age. The compact, yet world-renowned collection, is situated in the heart of The Hague. Masterpieces such as Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring, The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp by Rembrandt, The Goldfinch by Fabritius and The Bull by Potter are on permanent display in the intimate rooms of this seventeenth-century monument. Before leaving The Hague take some time to enjoy the beauty and tranquillity that the Peace Palace offers.
To complete your day, you will head to Scheveningen. A coastal district of The Hague, formerly a modest village focused on fishing which has now become a popular tourist spot, a modern seaside resort with a long, sandy beach, an esplanade, a pier, and a lighthouse. The beach is popular for water sports such as windsurfing and kiteboarding.
