This hiking tour of Montserrat, Catalonia's magic mountain will take you away from the throngs at the Abbey to a world of crags and weird rock formations. A calm beautiful place where you'll explore old shepherd's paths, hidden stairways, secluded hermit's caves and tiny mountain chapels. This simple hike is not all strenuous and is suitable for all ages and abilities and you will be accompanied by an experienced local guide at all times.

After meeting your guide we'll make the climb to the Monastery. From there we'll take an old shepherd's path with spectacular views over the surrounding area. Soon we'll come to the secluded chapel of Sant Benet. We'll continue the climb to the pass of Sant Salvador with more amazing views over the interior of the massif. If you're lucky you may even see wild mountain goats leaping from crag to crag.

From there we'll reach the summit of Sant Jeroni, at 1224m the highest peak on the mountain with stunning 360º views over the whole mountain and the plains far below. We'll return down the other side of the massif, descending to the monastery where you will some time to explore for yourself. You should not miss a visit to the Chapel of Our lady of Montserrat where you can see the image of La Moreneta, a Black Madonna, believed to date from the 12th Century.
