Set in the North East of England during the famous coal miners’ strike, Billy Elliot is an eleven year old boy who discovers his love for dancing despite his father and brother holding the stereotype that the pastime is only for girls. Following the roaring success of the movie, nominated for three Oscars and 13 Bafta awards, the story has made the progression to the stage.
