For almost 20 years, Rembrandt van Rijn lived with his family in the street which used to be called the Sint-Anthonisbreestraat. Rembrandt experienced many happy as well as sad moments in this house in Amsterdam. He painted ‘The Night Watch', his son Titus was born and his wife Saskia died. In 1658, Rembrandt had to leave his house because he could no longer pay the mortgage.
