Follow in the footsteps of Vincent van Gogh and see why he was so inspired by the landscapes of Provence. Van Gogh’s paintings have a whimsy and highly skilled simplicity which has made his work beloved all over the world. Visiting St-Remy-de-Provence, St Paul’s Asylum the village of Les-Baux-de-Provence and Arles, where you can enjoy a guided walk, this tour will provide much source of inspiration.



Wander Saint-Rémy de Provence with the Antiques (Triumphal Arch and funeral monument) located in a field of olive-trees, a landscape painted several times by Van Gogh. Take a look at St Paul’s Asylum, where Van Gogh checked himself in for treatment after he cut off his left ear in Arles and was a patient for a year. He painted many works while a patient, some of his finest it is claimed, and you can place yourself in his shoes and see some of the sites he painted.



Visit the medieval village of Les-Baux-de-Provence, a village located upon a 245 metre-high rock outcrop where you can enjoy a walking tour. Taking a stroll through the Roman city of Arles allows you to admire its arena and ancient theatre. Arles is also home to many locations painted by Van Gogh, including La Maison Jaune, Le Café De Nuit and Le Jardin de l'Hotel Dieu. On Saturdays, there is free time to stroll and soak in the weekly market in Arles.
