Admire the classical and medieval architecture of Provence with visits to the Roman aqueduct of Pont du Gard and the historic hilltop hamlet of Les Baux de Provence. If you have any interest in Roman and medieval history, or just a fascination with the aesthetics, you will enjoy this five hour tour of some of the most important stone monuments in Provence. Dating back to the roman period, the Pont du Gard, a stone bridge aqueduct was built by the Romans to supply Nimes with water, and remains one of the most visited monuments in Provence. Dating from the first century, it is one of the best-preserved aqueducts built during the Roman Empire and has truly impressive scale. Continue Les Baux de Provence, a picturesque medieval village that sits on a rocky spur in the Alpilles Mountains. With its historical pedestrian centre and surrounded by olive groves that produce a well-known olive oil, Les Baux de Provence is a worthy visit.



Explore the ruins of the ancient Roman city of Glanum near Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. Photo opportunities abound with views of ‘The Antiques’ (a triumphal arch and the Mausoleum of the Julii) and the surrounding scenic field of olive trees. By the end, you will understand why the landscape so inspired Van Gogh to paint it over and over again.
