Step inside the ancient gates of the Torcello Basilica and discover the cathedral’s secret history on this tour that takes you to areas and spaces that have been kept hidden from the public for centuries. An excellent example of Venetian-Byzantine architecture, the Torcello Basilica is home to some of the earliest and most beautiful mosaics in Venice. Admire the famous mosaic of the Virgin Hodegetria in the main apse before entering the crypt and the sacristy, these two areas that until recently have been off limits to public tours.
